Hi! I'm Trevin.
Designer. Storyteller. Collaborator. Strategist. Systems thinker. Problem solver. Experimenter. Curious explorer. Knowledge seeker. Tenacious simplifier.
Projects
A deeper look at some of the work I've been a part of.
How a cross-functional team helped consumers deal with 100+ plan choices and what we learned.
From idea conception to product launch, and all the hypotheses in between.
The ruthless simplification of an onboarding journey to drive industry adoption.
The assignment
In 2024 I completed a cohort of IDEO U's Storytelling for Influence. My BIG idea: experiments amplify impact. The enduring bits of that five weeks is this one-take 4 min 27 sec. On the todo list for 2025: a more visually narrative take 2.
Kind words
Gracious recommendations from teammates and colleagues.

Ed
"Trevin was a standout performer on a team of 15 designers working on uniquely challenging contract. Through it all he demonstrated a critical but under-appreciated aspect of the craft: Grit. Never discouraged, always learning, always listening, always working to improve his skillset."

Ben
"Trevin is an absolute pleasure to work with. He gets the big picture, and knows how to translate it into sweating the details that matter, while being a critical thinker at every step of the way. His dedication to great design and usability with a focus on purpose are an asset to any team."

Dave
"He is a rare gem that appreciates the intricacies of and relationships between strategy, design, technology, and human/consumer behavior. If I owned a start-up, I would want Trevin on my team because he takes absolute pride in his work and would devote himself wholeheartedly to mission accomplishment."

Becca
"As a product manager, I worked closely with Trevin on many cross-functional projects involving design, research, product, and engineering teams. I’ve been able to observe Trevin’s commitment to cross-functional collaboration and his dedication to understanding the scope of a project to find the best solutions."
About
Hello from Downtown St. Petersburg, FL (aka DTSP)!
I'm an endlessly curious, systems-thinking multidisciplinary designer that believes in learning fast. Specializing in a human-centered, Lean approach, I work in cross-functional teams to create user-friendly products and systems by drawing on principles of heuristic and cognitive psychology, usability, and visual design.
My goal: remove friction from every interaction on every surface to produce improved experience outcomes.
I'm currently a Senior UX Designer at Ad Hoc. Prior to joining Ad Hoc, I spent more than ten years as part of the team that started Triple Canopy (or Tribal Canopy, as I like to call it) and then established a design practice at Ridgewood Technology Partners. Later, I earned AWS Associate and Google Cloud Professional solution architect certifications and helped formalize Ridgewood's DevOps practice to increase our delivery velocity to customers' GovClouds.
When I began teaching myself HTML and CSS way back when, I didn't realize I was pursuing a career in design. I was simply excited by the exploration of something new: the perfect mix of design, technology, and change. Yes, that's all still there, but these days my curiosity also requires a good measure of learning and speed.
The more we practice rapid iteration and learning fast, the better our experiments perform, and (to borrow a motorsport phrase) the more speed we're able to carry out of the corner, down the straight to the next most important question.
A few of my favorite things
Learning, audiobooks, and my Overcast queue; extended typefaces and large x-heights; r/dataisbeautiful, the Stratechery bundle; WHOOP, Loop, and MyFitnessPal; Formula 1 (since pre-Drive to Survive); and, sunsets at St. Pete Beach.
